3 Easy Steps To Childproof Your Computer

With the constant necessary use of the computer, and internet safety for children use can often be overlooked. Everyone knows to teach computer safety, and just about every child knows to "be safe" but what can you as a parent do to childproof your computer in case your child forgets?

These are 3 easy steps you can use to childproof your computer:

1. Block any appropriate areas of the computer and or internet. If you share a computer with your children, you can password protect your information.this way, you children never have to get a hold of your passwords and inadvertently share them with strangers.

2. Share computer time with your children. Sharing computer time allows you to see where an with whom your child is communicating. This is not a sure way of keeping  your children safe, however, this practice helps give a foundation on how yor child should behave.

3. Communicate with your children. Although it seems all children have access to the internet whether using their computer, netbook and telephone; the best way to childproof your computer is to talk to your child. Children (of all ages including teenagers) should be taught to use safety practices on the internet. The rule of thumb is the same safety practices you will use when dealing with a stranger, is the same information you should be giving online.

Programmers have been developing software to keep children safe, such as browser plug-ins and even child proof browsers. These should be tested by an adult just in case.

The best childproof method is to remind children not to give out their address, telephone number, and real name under any circumstances.
